Assignment - 14A - Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency:  The behaviors I have used to keep up with the requirements of this class is to overall have a good mindset about every assignment. I try not to get overwhelmed by the amount of information that is required for each assignment and how there are sometimes three assignments due a week. Maintaining good discipline is another key behavior to have, specifically in regards to paying attention to the lectures so you're able to succeed on the cupcakes (quizzes).

2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude: There were a few moments throughout the first half of this class where I felt like giving up. Realizing that we had to read three books on top of managing the workload of assignments and lectures, along with the other classes I had to keep up with was a hard pill to swallow in the first week of class. I would say going to talk to Dr. Pryor during his office hours more often throughout the semester and touching base with him about what he expects out of the assignments and the class in general is what kept me going and pulled me through.

3) Three tips: The three tips I would offer to help foster the skills that support the tenacity and developing the tenacious mindset to thrive in this class would be, one, to just try and not overthink while reading over and completing these assignments. Two, try and stay ahead of the workload. completing it all last minute can be stressful and lead you to overthink about the remainder of the class in general. The last tip I can offer would be to remain positive. Whether you're burnt out from the assignments or not doing well on the quizzes, but under any circumstance, don't give in.

  1. Hi Stuart,
I completely agree that you need to have a positive mindset when seeing multiple assignments per week with this class, as each concept potentially teaches you a new aspect of how to think like a successful entrepreneur. Hearing that office hours worked for you is something that others can follow if they're falling behind in this class. For me, keeping an updated schedule helps me manage my time so that I don't fall behind with the amount of assignments and readings this class requires. When I let the workload overwhelm me, the assignments become more stressful and tedious so I agree that you cannot wait till the last minute to do them. Overall, your tips and advice is very helpful for those in upcoming semesters interested in taking this class!

  2. Hi Stuart! You touched on some great points about keeping up with this class. Especially that you shouldn't give up. As a UF Online student, having a full time job while going to school can be a definite challenge. It's true, though, you can't give up just because there's a lot of assignments and readings. You have to adapt and overcome.
